The USPS Address Lookup is the final check for a full address. This inventory does not establish a ZIP polygon, city limit, or list of mail recipients.
Ventura County ZIP Code Pattern
The 913xx group marks the eastern edge. Newbury Park uses 91319 and 91320 in the Thousand Oaks area, while 91358 through 91362 connect Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village. ZIP 91361 crosses the Los Angeles and Ventura County context. Oak Park, at 91377, is unincorporated, so its postal result does not identify the city office for a land-use record.
The 930xx group is the county core, reaching its cities and rural communities. One number family can contain street delivery, a PO-box pattern, or a special institutional assignment. A ZIP code directory must describe delivery context, not assume a neighborhood boundary.
Ventura County Postal Oddities
Local postal names hide different geographies. Fillmore and Piru share a river-valley search problem, but Piru is unincorporated. Ojai reaches beyond its incorporated city, while Ventura 93001 extends toward Rincon and Faria. Oxnard 93035 includes beach and Channel Islands Harbor. These clues do not identify the government office that owns a record.
PO-box and unique patterns matter in Ventura, Camarillo, Ojai, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Oxnard, and Port Hueneme. Point Mugu NAWC and Naval Base Ventura County add military delivery context. Preserve the delivery type beside the ZIP so a facility route is not mistaken for a street address.
Note: A postal name can describe delivery service while the governing land record belongs to a city or county jurisdiction with a different name.
Ventura County ZIP Terms Explained
These terms keep a Ventura County ZIP code directory from overpromising. ZIP data answers where mail is routed; an APN, legal description, case number, or voter-file authorization answers a different question.
- ZIP code
- A five-digit USPS delivery area, not a county district, city boundary, or household roster.
- ZIP+4
- The four-digit extension after the ZIP. It narrows delivery to a segment, not every person there.
- PO-box ZIP
- A ZIP used for post-office boxes or special mailing service instead of ordinary street delivery.
- Unique ZIP
- A postal assignment tied to one institution, installation, or special destination.
- Carrier route
- An operational delivery route, more granular than a ZIP but not a public resident list.
- ZCTA
- A Census statistical approximation of ZIP geography, not address-level USPS verification.
Use the term that matches the task. ZIP+4 improves mailing accuracy, ZCTA supports statistics, and neither replaces a parcel search or custodian record.
Finding Ventura County Residents by ZIP
A ZIP-wide resident search is not one public query in Ventura County. Validate the address first, then use a parcel or other source with its own access rule. A postal result may point to an unincorporated community, PO box, or facility rather than a residence.
- Run the complete address through the USPS lookup. Save the standardized city, state, ZIP, and ZIP+4, and note street-delivery eligibility.
- Enter the situs address or APN in the Ventura County Assessor Property Search. Capture APN, situs, legal description, and any public mailing address. A mailing ZIP is not occupancy proof.
- Open the parcel in Ventura County County View. Identify it, inspect nearby parcels and layers, and record the city or county context.
- Use the California Secretary of State voter-file request only for a qualifying election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purpose. Status lookup is for a voter’s own status, not a public ZIP browse.
- After narrowing the ZIP to a street, use the Ventura County street directory for address-level work.
This confirms a postal route, parcel setting, and lawful record path. It cannot produce a complete resident list because nonvoters, protected participants, and private household data do not appear in one source.
Ventura County ZIP Search Fields
The useful portal fields are address and parcel fields, not a generic ZIP filter. These controls move from a postal result to a Ventura County parcel or an authorized file request.
| Source and field | Type | ZIP use | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| USPS full address | Address text | Verify ZIP and ZIP+4 | No resident directory |
| USPS city and state | Paired inputs | Check postal-name options | Postal name may differ from legal jurisdiction |
| Assessor address | Text/autocomplete | Find situs and APN | Not a ZIP occupancy list |
| Assessor APN | Text key | Anchor the parcel | APN is not a postal code |
| County View identify/layers | Map click/tree | See parcel and jurisdiction context | Reference geometry, not a legal survey |
| SOS voter-file purpose/product | Application fields | Request permitted ZIP sorting | Purpose, signature, fee, and use limits apply |
An absent ZIP field does not mean records are missing. The Assessor uses exact address and APN access, County View is a map, and the voter file is controlled.
Ventura County ZIP Directory Limits
The Ventura County Clerk-Recorder’s index is party, document, and date oriented. It is not a ZIP directory. A deed may connect a name to a legal description, but the index does not turn a ZIP into a household search. The Recorder Self-Service index warns that an index is like a card catalog, not the record, and says to try spelling variations.
The Assessor starts with exact situs address or APN and may show a public mailing address. County View places the parcel beside roads, districts, and neighboring polygons. Record owner mailing ZIP and situs ZIP separately. A PO box, trustee, agent, or other correspondence address does not establish where an owner lives.
| Source | Best question | Not a substitute for |
|---|---|---|
| Recorder index | Which recorded instrument and party should be checked? | A ZIP household roster or current occupancy proof |
| Assessor search | Which APN and situs match the address? | A complete list of occupants |
| County View | Where is the parcel and which jurisdiction surrounds it? | A boundary survey or resident list |
| Qualified voter file | Can an authorized requester analyze registrations by ZIP? | Open address browsing by the public |
Note: The stable bridge between a changing postal address and a property record is the APN and legal description, not the ZIP alone.
PACER in the Ventura County ZIP Directory
PACER is the federal case locator and document-access service. It searches party name, court, case number, and filed or closed date, then returns docket details. A federal case tied to a Ventura County party is not a ZIP household source.
PACER separates court geography from postal geography. Ventura County federal matters belong to the Central District of California. An account is required, and document charges generally apply under the federal service’s published cap and threshold.
The official PACER case locator is the source for the federal route shown below.
PACER can locate a federal docket, but it cannot confirm that a listed ZIP was a residence rather than a mailing context.
Ventura County ZIP Court Venue
ZIPs can sort court venue or hearing assignments without defining a city. Ventura Superior Court serves the county’s incorporated cities and unincorporated areas. Its Case Inquiry separates Civil, Probate, Small Claims, Family Law, and Criminal/Traffic systems, and is not the official record or a ZIP resident directory.
One small-claims example groups East County ZIPs 91301, 91302, 91304, 91307, 91360-91362, 91377, 93020-93021, 93062-93065, and 93093. This operational grouping can cross city or unincorporated lines, so it should guide the court question, not settle residence.
Note: Court venue ZIPs route case administration; they do not prove that a party currently resides in every place served by that ZIP.
Ventura County ZIP Code Boundaries
Postal and legal geography meet around Westlake Village and unincorporated places. A 91361 delivery context can touch the Los Angeles and Ventura County setting. Oak Park, Piru, Somis, and Oak View may route land-use work to County RMA or GIS even when the postal name sounds like a city.
For mail, use a USPS full-address result. For parcel and jurisdiction, use the Assessor and County View. For statistics, label a Census ZCTA as an approximation. For permits or planning, route the request to the city department or County RMA that governs the parcel.
Privacy in Ventura County ZIP Directory
A ZIP is too broad for a reliable household claim. California voter data is purpose-limited; the Secretary of State file request requires a qualifying purpose, while driver-license numbers, Social Security numbers, signatures, and protected contact data are withheld. Status lookup is for a voter’s own status, not browsing a ZIP.
Safe at Home can suppress residence information. DMV, utility, private HOA, and unlisted-occupant data are not ordinary ZIP directory fields. Use an address result for lawful personal research, family history, civic transparency, or property context, and confirm material facts with the custodian.
Note: The safest ZIP search ends with a custodian, an address-specific record, and a clear reason for access rather than a broad list of names.
