Information You Send Directly
Names, phone numbers, or addresses entered in the protected search boxes are sent to the third-party provider that returns sponsored results. Ventura County Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you send a message, the contact mailbox receives the material included in that message and uses it to respond.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps. These ordinary logs are used in aggregate to keep the pages working and understand broad traffic patterns. Basic cookies, analytics, or advertising measurement may operate where the relevant provider uses them.
How the Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the reference, answer messages, diagnose faults, measure traffic, and improve page content. The private reference does not sell a visitor list or build a personal profile of an individual reader.
Outside Portals and Search Providers
Links lead to Ventura County property, recorder, court, elections, library, archive, and other public-resource portals. Their privacy terms control what is submitted after a reader leaves this domain. The same rule applies to sponsored search results, which are supplied by a separate company.
Who May Process Technical Data
Hosting and support vendors may handle server logs on behalf of the reference. Analytics or advertising providers may receive the automatic data described above. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is not intentionally disclosed beyond the purposes in this policy.
Security Measures
The pages use an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for the operational purposes that require them. Because there are no site accounts, the service does not hold a reader password or user profile that could be exposed here.
Readers Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information to the contact mailbox, a parent or guardian may write through the Contact page and request deletion.
California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., may provide rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of sale or sharing, subject to its exceptions. The Delete Act, Civil Code §1798.99.80 et seq., created DROP in 2026 for one-stop requests to registered data brokers. Because this reference keeps very little, a request generally means checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs for the requester's information.
Use the Contact page for a request about data held here. Public records held by California, Ventura County, a city, a court, or a library are controlled by their custodians. A deletion request to this private reference cannot remove a deed, voter entry, court file, or vital record held by a government office.
Changes to This Policy
An updated version will be posted on this page when the information practices change. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
