Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply to Ventura County Residents Directory. Accessing or using the private reference means that these terms are accepted; anyone who does not accept them should leave the site.

1. The Nature of This Reference

Ventura County Residents Directory is privately operated reference material. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections related to people who live or lived in Ventura County, California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a government office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Lawful Ways to Use It

Use the reference only for a lawful purpose. You may not use it or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm another person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or a related offense
  • Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the pages at scale
  • Interfere with site operation, security, or availability

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Status

This service is not a consumer reporting agency as that term is defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. Nothing on the pages, and nothing returned by a linked search provider, is a consumer report. None of it may be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. External Portals and Providers

Government portals, libraries, archives, sponsored search providers, and other linked services set their own terms and privacy practices. Ventura County Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, prices, results, or handling of information submitted after a reader follows a link.

5. No Promise of Accuracy

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a statement, link, fee, office hour, coverage date, or search result is accurate, complete, current, or available. Confirm important information with the custodian before relying on it.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this reference or a linked resource, including a decision made from a record found through it.

7. Your Responsibility to Indemnify

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from misuse of the reference or a breach of these Terms of Use.

8. Copyright and Site Materials

The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the site operators and are protected by copyright. Brief quotations with attribution and ordinary links are welcome. Full-page republication and systematic copying are not permitted.

9. Revisions

These terms may be changed by posting a replacement version here. Continued use after a revision is posted means that the revised terms are accepted.

10. Restricting Access

The operators may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms, abuses the service, or threatens its operation. That action may occur without advance notice.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without applying conflict-of-law principles. Requests for existing, reasonably described disclosable records from a public agency follow the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000. That law does not require an agency to create a record and does not override confidential vital, voter, DMV, juvenile, sealed, investigatory, or Safe at Home material. California privacy rights may also be affected by the Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., and the Delete Act, Civil Code §1798.99.80 et seq.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
